Winemaker's Notes
The nose is generous and direct with apricots, flowers, honey and pears. The palate is rich, lush and consistent with the bouquet. The finish is long and sassy.
For the better part of two centuries, the Rhone Valley has been famous for its red wines. With the exception of some impressive Viogniers from Condrieu, the appellation has garnered limited international attention for its whites. Too bad. The region actually boasts a handful of wonderful, lesser-known, indigenous white grapes that until recently flew well under the radar.
It took a handful of pioneering California producers (Richard included) to generate interest in each of these obscure varieties. By employing modern farming and winemaking techniques they were able to capture the fresh, vibrant aromatics inherent in each of these grapes.
Our Cote de Lune Blanc blends four Rhone grapes into a wonderfully rich and satisfying white wine. It was first produced in 2000 from grapes grown at Saralee's Vineyard in the Russian River. The cool climate helps create wines that are fragrant, balanced and unique.
